O.
J. Simpson trial
started January 23, 1995 in Los Angeles after a famous American football player and actor was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman. First, the prosecution asked ??the driver Alan Park, whom Simpson called on that fateful day of June 12 to his house so that he drove him to the airport (Simpson was going to fly back to Chicago). The driver said that he came to Simpson’s house at 22:22 and there was nobody home… However, Park could not leave without completing the order and decided to go on ring the doorbell periodically, hoping that someone will open it. This went on until 11 pm. It was at this time, when the driver saw a man, who approached the other side of the house by creeping gait, whom he could not recognize.

The prosecution concluded that all this time Simpson had not slept and was on Bundy Drive where committed murder. However, the defense immediately filed its own arguments against this accusation. The murder occurred at 22:15, but at 22:20, Simpson’s neighbors saw his Rolls Royce parked near the house. Further, according to Simpson’s neighbor actor Kato Calin, from 21:00 to 21:37 they, along with Simpson, went for hamburgers.

Besides the defense had on hand another proof: between 22:00 and 22:10 Simpson called on his cell phone to his mistress Golf Barbieri. Although at the time that was not at home, but the telephone station recorded the call.

A jury has found Simpson not guilty.

The fact that the accused was black, and the victims were white, initially gave the case a racial accent.

The defense insisted on the version according to which the police had a conspiracy “because of racist beliefs.” Los Angeles Police Department has earned such a reputation after the brutal police arrest of Rodney King, which was recorded by a video camera. After justifying the police officers involved in the arrest, the city erupted into unrest in 1992.

According to a survey in the completion of the day October 3, 1995, 73% of Americans agreed with the prosecution, and 27% were against it: statistics reflect the then relationship between the white majority and colored minority.

Among the 12-member jury at the trial was 8 black women and one black man, one Hispanic and two white women only. Thus, 83% of a jury made ??up of colored Americans.
